Willoughby is rash and unthinking. As I get older I see his and Marianne's actions in a new light. He gives Marianne a horse...a horse! How can he not see that they don't have the money to keep a horse?
I've always wondered if at first Willoughby had meant to make Marianne another conquest. I'm convinced that he does wind up loving her and was planning to marry her, but were his original intentions less than honorable?
